The oil industry touches nearly every aspect of our lives. The seemingly endless conflicts in the Middle East are due in large part to oil interests. The history and politics of the global oil industry is a huge – and hugely important – topic. There are a number of resources that I will be recommending. But a good place to start is Gas Hole, a cogent and well-researched documentary which offers a basic understanding of the basic history and politics of U.S. oil companies.
